Current Scene Study Classes

Hey Guys. Here is my offering for advanced scene study. On Tuesday mornings starting in May, I would like to offer a 4 week class that meets every other week and a 3 week class that does the same. Sound confusing? The idea is to give actors two weeks to pick and prepare a scene. Of course, if you committed to both segments, for you it would be an 7 week scene study class. But I have sensed that this is a little too much for many, so I am offering the option to sign up for a class that meets every other week. If this is still unclear, take a look at the breakdown below ;-)

Best.

Ted

4 Weeks - Scene Study (Limited to 8 actors)
Dates: Tuesdays - every other week May 2nd through June 13th
Time: 10am - 1pm
Cost: 120 bucks. Deposit of 30 dollars holds your spot. Refunded at more than 48 hours in advance of the first class

As soon as you sign up, we will work to find a script for you. You can partner with someone in class, if you like, or go it alone. If alone, someone else in the class will serve as your “informed reader”.
It is really up to you what to work on. You could work on an “out there” character to stretch yourself, or something right up your alley to get more comfortable in your realm of castability - comedy or drama...The hope for the script is that it is something you have not viewed…at least not recently. As most of you know, I have lots of options to throw your way, if you let me know what you have in mind working on.
Actors are expected to bring in their work "camera ready”. That means off book and loosely staged - unless the actor wants to work in “audition format”. Still, the expectation is that the material is camera ready.
All work is filmed. Each actor receives their weekly video files. Time permitting, the work is viewed and discussed.
The requirement for this class is that you have either been through my On Camera Acting I and II classes,
or you are very comfortable with on camera work and are proficient in on camera acting preparation and script analysis.

Late Spring Classes

Here are my classes that are coming up. I will also be teaching an advanced scene study class on Tuesday days that I will be announcing separately.

Ted

**On Camera Acting I - 7 weeks (Limited to 10 actors).
Dates: May 4th - June 15th
Time: Thursdays 6:30pm - 9:30pm
The cost is $345 (sliding scale down to $245 for those in need / on a tight budget)
A $100 dollar deposit holds a spot. Refunded only up to 48 hours before the first class.
The balance ($245) is due by the second class, after which there is no refund.
Mailing address for check (preferred) payments, below.
For Paypal, ask for my account address. Choose Friends or Family to avoid surcharge
Square payments (3% surcharge) are also accepted.

Beginning with improv and easing into scripted scene work, this is a relaxed,
fun approach to getting comfortable in front of the camera.
The objective of the class is to establish the foundations of a process that emphasizes
simply listening and talking - being "in your skin" - as opposed to in your head.
This is a great transitional class for theatre actors and an excellent foundational class for new actors.

All work is filmed, reviewed and discussed - time permitting.

**On Camera Acting II - 7 weeks (Limited to 10 actors)
Dates: May 3rd - June 14th
Time: Wednesdays 6:30 - 9:30pm
The cost is $315 (sliding scale down to $225 for those in need / on a tight budget)
A $100 dollar deposit holds a spot. The balance ($215) is due by the second class.
Mailing address for check payments, below. Paypal payments accepted (My Paypal address:
twrooney@pacbell.net. Choose Friends or Family to avoid surcharge).

Moving beyond "being in your skin" and finding simplicity on camera, here the focus is on script analysis,
the "headspace" of the character, rehearsal process and auditioning. Actors are expected to up the ante,
as we get into the hard work of acting. Know that this one will require more of your time outside of class.
The class is especially tailored to actors who have already been through the Foundational I class,
though that is not a requirement.

All work is filmed and (time permitting) viewed and discussed.
