Actorcise Sunday

There will be a Sunday afternoon, May 27th, at 1:30pm Actorcise at Rooney-Totman Studio - hosted by Kate Mentesana.

As always, don't just show up. If we don't get enough interest, we will cancel.

Please email Kate (mentesanak@gmail.com) if you are planning on coming, and wait for confirmation Saturday evening.

Make sure you take Kate's phone number for last minute communication (provided after you sign up).

I wanna allow time for each actor, so I have limited Actorcise to 10 people. 

Therefore, when you sign up, I need you to be committed to showing up. If you are not sure you can make it, please hold off signing up until you are sure. I

Kate will keep a waiting list for last minute cancelations. But if you have signed up and have to drop out last minute, if your spot is not filled by someone on the waiting list, you are on the honor system for payment. However, I will certainly try my best to fill your spot ;-)

**On Camera Acting II (With Ted)

Limited to 10 actors

Dates: June 13th - July 18th

Time: Wednesdays 6:30 - 9:30pm

The total cost is $245

The class is especially tailored to actors who have already been through the OC I class.

Though this is not a requirement, actors need to have the fundamental abilities that OC I covers.

If I don’t know an actors work, I will need to see something on tape or in person.

Moving beyond "being in your skin" and finding simplicity on camera, here the focus is on 

rehearsal process, the "headspace" of the character,  script analysis, and auditioning. 

Actors are expected to up the ante, as we get into the hard work of acting. 

Know that this class will require more outside time than OC I. 

All work is filmed and (time permitting) viewed and discussed.

FULL **Scene Study - 6 weeks

Limited to 8 actors

Dates: April 24th - May 29th

Time: Tuesdays 6:30 - 9:30pm

The total cost is $210

If space is available, an actor can drop in on one class for 35 bucks.

The class is especially tailored to actors who have already been through the OC I and II classes, 

but it is open to anyone who would be considered an advanced on camera actor.

If I don’t know an actors work, I will need to see something on tape or in person before they join.

As soon as you sign up, we will work to find a script for you. 

You can partner with someone in class, if you like, or go it alone. 

If alone, someone else in the class will serve as your “informed reader”.

It is really up to you what to work on. You could work on an “out there” character to stretch yourself, 

or something right up your alley to get more comfortable in your realm of castability - comedy or drama…

The hope for the script is that it is something you have not viewed…at least not recently. 

As most of you know, I have lots of options to throw your way, if you let me know what you have in mind working on.

Actors are expected to bring in their work "camera ready."

That means off book, loosely staged, and raring to go - unless the actor wants to work in “audition format."

All work is filmed. Each actor receives their weekly video files.

Brooke is currently starring in the critically acclaimed series, The Benefits of Gusbandry, available on Amazon Prime.  She is also the coach and director of Big Mother, an ensemble sketch company performing in comedy theaters across Portland. She is thrilled to be joining Rooney acting studios, teaching acting on camera, comedic acting workshops, and sketch comedy classes.

After receiving a degree in Theater performance from the University of Oregon, Brooke Totman moved to L.A. to train at acclaimed sketch and improv company, The Groundlings. Totman became a member of The Groundlings Sunday company alongside Melissa McCarthy, Mitch Silpa, Nat Faxon and Ben Falcone - it's here that her skills for writing sketches and creating unique comedy characters were developed. During its 5th season, Totman joined the cast of the sketch comedy show MadTV, as a featured cast member. Other selected TV credits include: The King of Queens (CBS), Less Than Perfect (ABC), Judging Amy (CBS), Life After First Failure (The CW) and Portlandia (IFC).
