Winter Classes

Here are my Winter introduction to film acting classes, along with my On Camera II and Advanced Scene Study.

On Camera I is great for theatre actors wanting to make the transition, good for experienced actors revisiting the fundamentals, and a perfect start for the newly interested.

Good Cheer!

**Advanced Scene Study
Limited to 8 actors
Dates: January 7th - February 18th
Time: Mondays 6:30 - 9:30pm
The total cost is $210
If space is available, an actor can drop in on one class for 35 bucks.

The class is especially tailored to actors who have already been through the OC I and II classes,
but it is open to anyone who would be considered an advanced on camera actor.
If I don’t know an actors work, I will need to see something on tape or in person before they join.

As soon as you sign up, we will work to find a script for you.
You can partner with someone in class, if you like, or go it alone.
If alone, someone else in the class will serve as your “informed reader”.
It is really up to you what to work on. You could work on an “out there” character to stretch yourself,
or something right up your alley to get more comfortable in your realm of castability - comedy or drama…
The hope for the script is that it is something you have not viewed…at least not recently.
As most of you know, I have lots of options to throw your way, if you let me know what you have in mind working on.
Actors are expected to bring in their work "camera ready."
That means off book, loosely staged, and raring to go - unless the actor wants to work in “audition format."
All work is filmed. Each actor receives their weekly video files.
Time permitting, the work is viewed and discussed

A $75 dollar deposit holds your spot. Refunded up to 48 hours before the first class. The balance ($135) is due by the second class, after which there is no refund. Mailing address for check payments, below. Venmo works, too: 323-819-9622.

**On Camera II
7 weeks Limited to 10 actors
Dates: January 2nd to February 20th (No class on January 30th)
Time:Wednesdays 6:30 - 9:30pm
The total cost is $285

The class is especially tailored to actors who have already been through the OC I class.
Though this is not a requirement, actors need to have the fundamental abilities that OC I covers.
If I don’t know an actors work, I will need to see something on tape or in person.

Moving beyond "being in your skin" and finding simplicity on camera, here the focus is on
rehearsal process, the "headspace" of the character,  script analysis, and auditioning.
Actors are expected to up the ante, as we get into the hard work of acting.
Know that this class will require more outside time than OC I.
All work is filmed and (time permitting) viewed and discussed.

A 100 dollar deposit holds a spot. The balance ($185) is due by the second class.

OC I Class Start October 29th!

This class is a great introduction to acting for the camera. For theatre folks, it is a great help in transitioning to the camera. For beginners, it is a great start to acting in general. I have had many complete non-actors walk out of this seven week endeavor as, what I would call, a capable actor. Most of us already have the tools that are needed to be a good actor. And I don’t mean special talent. I mean all that makes you who you are. It is often more about us getting out of the way of ourselves - what we already are able to do. My earnest goal for each person in class is that they grow from where they are. If you are just curious, this is the place for you. If you have never acted but you feel you have the passion, this is a safe place to explore that passion. If you just wanna take a class that stretches you and helps you get to know yourself better, this class is for you. If you want a class that will benefit you in your workplace environment with being a more authentic and a better communicator, this class is for you.

And if you are still unsure, come to the first class this Monday (Oct 29th) and audit - no obligation. If you like it at that point, you can still join, if there are spots left.

Cheers.
Ted

Actorcise Tuesday Daytime

It has been quite a while. But, I will be hosting an Actorcise, Tuesday October 16th, at 11am at the studio. (Actorcise is a cold reading workshop. Each actor gets to work on two scenes.)

As always, don't just show up.
Please email me if you are planning on coming, and wait for confirmation on Monday: acted@att.net
Make sure you take my phone number for last minute communication (provided after you sign up).

I wanna allow time for each actor, so I have limited Actorcise to 10 people.
Therefore, when you sign up, I need you to be committed to showing up. If you are not sure you can make it, please hold off signing up until you are sure. If you have signed up and have to drop out last minute, and your spot is not filled by someone on the waiting list, you are on the honor system for payment. However, we will certainly try our best to fill your spot ;-)

Come workout!
