Hey All. This is one last mention of my On Camera I class coming up this Tuesday, as there are still a couple of seats available. I wanna remind those who are on the fence that the first class is always open to a limited number of auditors.

**On Camera Acting I (with Ted Rooney)
7 weeks
Limited to 12 Actors
Dates: April 30th - June 11th
Time: Tuesdays 6:30pm - 9:30pm
The total cost is $325 (I am open to alternate payment plans, if need be)

Beginning with improv and easing into scripted scene work, this is a relaxed,
fun approach to getting comfortable in front of the camera.
The objective of the class is to establish the foundations of a process that emphasizes
simply listening and talking - being "in your skin" - as opposed to in your head.
This is a great transitional class for theatre actors and an excellent foundational class for new actors.
All work is filmed, reviewed and discussed - time permitting.

A 100 dollar deposit registers you - refunded only up to 48 hours before the first class.
The balance ($225) is due by the second class, after which there is no refund.
Venmo and Paypal work. Venmo (free) via: 323-819-9622.

Advanced Acting Classes

There is still room in my On Cmaera I class (see previous post) that starts Tuesday the 30th. My daytime scene study class is also beginning next week. My rarely taught Character class starts a couple weeks aftewards.

Ted

**Monthly Ongoing Advanced Scene Study
5 weeks this month
Limited to 8 actors
Dates: April 30th - May 28th
Time: Tuesdays 10am - 1pm
The total cost is $150 (5 classes June will be 120, as there are only 4 classes)
If space is available, an actor can drop in on one class for 35 bucks.

The class is especially tailored to actors who have already been through the OC I and II classes,
but it is open to anyone who would be considered an advanced on camera actor.
If I don’t know an actors work, I will need to see something on tape or in person before they join.

As soon as you sign up, we will work to find a script for you.
You can partner with someone in class, if you like, or go it alone.
If alone, someone else in the class will serve as your “informed reader”.
It is really up to you what to work on. You could work on an “out there” character to stretch yourself,
or something right up your alley to get more comfortable in your realm of castability - comedy or drama…
The hope for the script is that it is something you have not viewed…at least not recently.
As most of you know, I have lots of options to throw your way, if you let me know what you have in mind working on.
Actors are expected to bring in their work "camera ready."
That means off book, loosely staged, and raring to go - unless the actor wants to work in “audition format."
All work is filmed. Each actor receives their weekly video files.
Time permitting, the work is viewed and discussed

The full payment of $150 reserves your spot.
Venmo and Paypal work. Venmo (free) via: 323-819-9622.
Paypal address: twrooney@pacbell.net (Choose Friends or Family to avoid surcharge).
---------------------------------------------

**On Camera Acting III (Character Work) - 6 weeks
Dates: May 13th - June 17th
Time: Mondays 6:30 - 9:30pm
The total cost is $210

This class is for either advanced actors or actors who have been through OC I and OC II.
It was designed to be a continuation of those two classes.
Moving beyond yourself in the given circumstances - the bread and butter of an on camera actor -
the focus here is on stretching the actor’s sphere of comfort to include previously foreign behavior.
Whether it is with an different voice, personality, or movement,
character work is “owning” those differences. Bringing life to them.
It is stepping into the skin of someone who walks and talks unlike yourself.
Techniques in accomplishing this are discussed and practiced.
With my assistance, each actor decides how much they want to stretch and with what kind of material.
All work is filmed and (time permitting) viewed and discussed.

A 100 dollar deposit registers you.
The balance ($110) is due by the second class.
Venmo and Paypal work. Venmo via: 323-819-9622.

Monday Nights On Camera I

There is less than one week until the start of my Monday evening On Camera I class. There are still a few spots left. There are also spaces available for auditing the class - for those interested in attending class but wanting to know more about what they are committing to. An auditor gets to fully participate in the class. I have had to start charging 10 dollars to auditors (paid in advance via Venmo or Paypal). This is only because so many auditors have been no shows in the past. I have turned potential students away only to end up with empty seats. So, the nominal fees assures a greater commitment to showing up. If an auditor decides to continue with the class, the 10 bucks will go toward the tuition.

Also, if you are still interested in joining my Sunday OC I with Brooke Totman, there is still time. We have had one class already, so you would need to set up a one-on-one time with Brooke this week to catch you up on the first class, but you would be fine.

Best.
Ted

"Ted is the kindest, most patient acting teacher I have ever encountered. Over the course of two years, I took lessons with him privately and in his classes. He has forever shaped my approach to on-camera work by teaching me how to do less, less, less until I finally understood how to be a presence on film”. - Hadley Boyd

"I've taken Ted's On Camera One and Two classes, scene study, participated in an actor writer workshop and the occasional Actorcise. I appreciate Ted's dedication to teaching. He doesn't seem to care about the frills of the industry and won't tell you how to get famous, bummer I know... But what I've learned and taken away from his classes has been so valuable to me. I leave the studio feeling inspired and truly grateful to be a part of such an awesome acting community”! - Emily Kimball

"I cannot recommend Ted Rooney's acting classes enough. His style is caring, gentle, but pointed. Genius! As a former Casting Director, as a Producer and Director, THIS is the class to take, my actor friends.” - Christine Autrand Mitchell

"I am anxious to get back in class with Ted. His most valuable gift to me was a confident sense of self; that confidence absolutely helped me book my "biggest" on-camera role to date -- while I was taking his class. He is down-to-earth and well able to share practical advice he has gathered during his own impressive career”. - Paige Jones

"I took my very first on-film acting class with Ted, having worked almost exclusively, and only very recently (at the time) on stage. Basically, Ted could teach anything to anyone. He's able to connect to individual learning styles with humility and openness. He's very accommodating of personal needs, but still holds you accountable to doing good work and mining your potential for all that he can, despite limited in-class time. The prospect of film work went from being an intimidating enigma to being a productive and fun source of extra income for me. Thank you, Ted!!”

"Friends, as I continue my search for affordable and legitimate acting classes here in LA, I’m reminded of how lucky I was to have taken classes with Ted Rooney. If you’re in the Portland area and are wanting to get your feet wet and exercise your acting chops, sign up for his OC class! I do so badly wish I was in Portland, so I could continue to be challenged and inspired by this amazing coach/actor”. - Steve Vanderzee

"Portland friends interested in film! Take classes with Ted Rooney. His classes are the best, they changed the way I thought about acting. Ted is a fantastic teacher, check him out”! - Rebecca Tyree

"Taking Teds class was the best thing I have done for my acting aspirations and for myself. He is hands on and knowledgeable but also his authenticity and care make his class extremely fun. Learn to act from the heart and as a side effect live more from your core as well”. - Laurel Cullen

"I HIGHLY recommend (Ted's classes) if you are contemplating wanting to try acting, even if you've never done it before, OR if you are an experienced actor and would like to get a different idea of how to improve your craft please consider taking class with Ted. I am able to take what I learned and use it not only for film but also for stage”! - Meghan Daaboul

"I had no idea what to expect from my very first ever acting class, OC I. What I learned about on camera acting further increased my interest and awareness of good quality acting. On-Camera acting is totally different from on stage/play acting. I appreciated the small class size. It allowed the class participants to get to know each other a little better, especially when pairing up to practice lines. Ted is serious about his profession, but light hearted, which compliments his teaching ability and style. He’s not only funny, but he cares about helping the student to succeed in however far they want to take their acting skills and abilities”. - Dianne Smith
