November Classes

I have a 7 week On Camera One acting class starting up in a few weeks (November 3rd). Unfortunately, I am still holding Zoom classes only, as my studio sits empty. But if Portland keeps doing as well as we have been with Covid, I may be looking at holding classes in my studio space after the new year…with masks, and distancing, of course. I continue to offer a substantial discount for the online classes, and I also allow for one deeply discounted spot per class for a person who is unable to afford the class due to a Covid caused job loss (ask me for details).

As always, if you are dubious about taking an online acting class, you can audit the first one to see for yourself. I have a few spots available for this purpose.

I am also offering an OC II class as listed below.

**On Camera Acting I
7 weeks (via Zoom)
Limited to 10 Actors
Dates: November 3rd - December 15th
Time: Tuesdays 6:30pm - 9:30pm
The total cost is: $230 (Flexible payment options)
$100 will register you
Auditing the first class is free to non-participating auditors.

OC I is a great class for acting-curious and experienced theatre actor.
Beginning with improv and easing into scripted scene work, this is a relaxed,
fun approach to getting comfortable in front of the camera.
The objective of the class is to establish the foundations of a process that emphasizes
simply listening and talking - being "in your skin" - as opposed to in your head.
This is a great transitional class for theatre actors and an excellent foundational class for brand new actors.
All work is filmed, reviewed and discussed - time permitting.

A 100 dollar deposit registers you. The deposit can be refunded up until 48 hours before the first class.
The rest of the payment ($130) is then due by the second class.

**On Camera Acting II (via the internet - potentially becoming an in-person class)

7 weeks Limited to 8 actors
Dates: November 2nd - December 14thth
Time: Mondays 6:30pm - 9:30pm
The total cost is $225

The class is specially tailored to actors who have already been through the OC I class.
Though this is not a requirement, actors need to have the fundamental abilities that OC I covers.
If I don’t know an actors work, I will need to see some work on tape or in person.

Moving beyond "being in your skin" and finding simplicity on camera, here the focus is on
rehearsal process, the "headspace" of the character, script analysis, and auditioning.
Actors are expected to up the ante, as we get into the hard work of acting.
Know that this class will require more outside time than OC I.
All work is filmed and (time permitting) viewed and discussed.

A 100 dollar deposit holds a spot. The balance ($125) is due by the second class.

Ted Rooney - Acting Coach
On camera, Ted has amassed over 35 TV guest-star and recurring credits including Boardwalk Empire, ER, Gilmore Girls, Community, Lost, Weeds, My Name Is Earl, Seinfeld, CSI, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Ted has over 20 principal movie roles (Gone, Legally Blonde, Santa Pups, Blood Work...) and over 35 principal appearances in commercials (Yes, he was Abe Lincoln in the Mt. Dew ad and the Rozerem spots :-) Locally, Ted has appeared in The Librarians, Grimm, Leverage, Portlandia, The Kill Hole, Bucksville and Cell Count. On Stage, Ted has acted locally at Corrib, Profile ad ART, and in regional theatres (Ahmanson - LA, Williamstown Theatre, The McCarter, The Wilma, The Arden, Portland Stage, and Idaho Shakespeare). He has performed in 10 off-Broadway plays and 10 plays in LA with the Actors Co-op. Ted has a BA in Theatre from Lewis and Clark College and an MFA in acting from Temple University. Currently, Ted is currently teaching and coaching acting out of his own studio space, as well as teaching on camera acting at Portland State University.
